broadcasting Sladko i Gorchivo, a Bulgarian drama film, in living rooms across Romania. Suddenly, everything began to tremble. Inside, household items started falling while the buildings outside were shaking like leaves. After 56 seconds, there was only silence, dust, and darkness. This was one of the most devastating earthquakes in Romania's history, striking on March 4, 1977, with a magnitude of 7.2. Reenactment with five sequences depicting how my father experienced the earthquake on March 4, 1977. The shots were filmed inside my childhood apartment, where he often shared his memories from that night. The video shows a typical Romanian living room interior, capturing the environment in which most residents would have experienced the earthquake on March 4, 1977. The video is 56 seconds long, mirroring the duration of the earthquake itself. The audio, the only surviving record of the event, captures the sounds from a concert hall during the quake. At the time, there were only two broadcasting TV channels. The Bulgarian drama film Sladko i Gorchivo was airing on the main channel of The National Romanian Television when the earthquake struck. The first signs of the earthquake are evident as a glass of water begins to tremble on the table. Objects inside a bookshelf may fall, the ceiling lamp sways, windows crack, and the view from outside captures the chaos unfolding. These numbers are hard for me to grasp, as I wasn’t born yet. But my father, who lived on the sixth floor of an apartment building, experienced the earthquake firsthand. He shared many stories with me when I was a child and kept an archive of newspapers from those days. As I browsed through this archive, I found a mix of raw facts and state propaganda. Grim photographs of collapsed structures were interspersed with staged images of Nicolae Ceaușescu visiting damaged sites. The articles praised his words and glorified the regime, focusing on heroic survival stories, without a single word of criticism. Ceaușescu ordered the cessation of consolidation efforts just four months after the disaster, leaving many buildings that barely survived the 1977 quake vulnerable to another hit. Around 350 buildings are marked with a red round plate on their facades, indicating they are classified as Class 1 Seismic Risk meaning that are likely to collapse in a major earthquake. All the zines were later scanned and printed in a limited edition publication of 25 copies. Expanded Spatialities is an artistic project that reconfigures the image of the city beyond its physical forms, offering an experience of lived spatiality. The project transcends the traditional perception of the city as a collection of streets and buildings, exploring the interplay between fiction and reality through photography, performance, collage and installations. The artists incorporate the history of places, the human body, and residents’ memories to expand and transform the perception of urban space, challenging the globalized and homogenized image of the modern city. Thus, closely following strict Communist Propaganda principles, large collective housing units were being built. Drawing upon Soviet models, these apartment buildings were meant to serve the sole purpose of housing as many inhabitants as virtually possible. Their interior&nbsp;layout was&nbsp;strictly regulated by the state, imposing both a&nbsp;rigurous room configuration as well as a certain amount of space for each of the very few&nbsp;types of flats available. Built from prefabricated concrete elements, these buildings were meant to be inexpensive, efficient and time-saving – which has eventually led to repetition and dullness in their overall architectural presence. Nowadays, being faced with constant Soviet social housing stigma, the inhabitants and local authorities are trying to improve the quality of the space both inside and outside of the buildings. With the aid of EU funds, these seemingly sterile-looking blocks of flats are currently being refurbished as part of a thermal rehabilitation programme - which has generated the ideal context for their facades to also undergo a process of restoration. Ignoring their original exterior appearance, these concrete blocks are now being colourfully painted in a feeble attempt to add more personality and cover any lingering Communist traces. The styrofoam and flashy plaster serve as a form of heavy make up, while the flats preserve the same low comfort standard that has been present ever since they were initially built. Nonetheless, this visual artifice only functions as a means of altering the exterior, whilst the interior remains mostly unchanged - proving insufficient for the needs of their inhabitants. Even though most of the dwellers have attempted to improve their homes,&nbsp;the traces of the past are still very&nbsp;strongly&nbsp;present in every flat through their small, inflexible and obsolete interiors. In order to&nbsp;emphasise this interior rigidity, I have decided to conceive this project as a visual dialogue between my own&nbsp;photographic montages and sketches of the original interior layouts, thus&nbsp;creating a visual juxtaposition between interior and exterior, old and new. Stemming from my training as an architect, I have employed the same technique required by street front studies used in urban planning in order to create this series of images. ‘Blocks of Flats’ is meant to be seen both as an exploration of the rapid visual decay of the current urban milieu, as well as a method of documenting their repetitiveness and architectural rigour. Constructed as photographic&nbsp;montages, these images are not meant to overstate reality. On the contrary, the resulting&nbsp;photographs&nbsp;show a hidden reality that is otherwise invisible to the naked eye, digitally recomposing the complete facade of these large communist housing urban landscape is still largely dominated by typical communist housing developments. Originating from a Soviet housing model that gained rapid popularity in the East, these communist blocks of flats are still the most common type of dwelling found in urban areas, popular amongst people of all classes and ages. Under the promise of having all the facilities within an easily accessible radius, these areas were constructed so as to be completely and densely populated in the evening by people who would then commute during daytime to their workplaces in other parts of the city. Furthermore, within a short walk away from the buzzing Sleeping District a new large shopping mall has been erected, now replacing what once used to be a factory.Most of these flats were built following strict layouts with small, cramped rooms, thus imposing a certain living standard on their dwellers. Nonetheless, over the years many of these homes have suffered changes in order to accommodate different needs and desires, with every owner or lodger leaving their own personal imprint on the space. investigate and explore notions around the ideas of privacy and home. Whilst the project initially began as a collection of exterior photographs captured around these types of neighbourhoods, our interior imagery came as a natural visual extension and is meant to function almost as a taxonomic scheme. Photographing different - yet seemingly identical - neighbourhoods and homes, where the presence of the inhabitants is either implied or evident, reinforces the fact that one particular living
